Champlain College The VLRA is a professional organization of hotel and restaurant owners, managers and employees. Its purpose is to provide services and benefits to members that could not be easily obtained by individual properties. This includes representing the interests of the hospitality industry to state legislators, providing educational and professional development opportunities and obtaining discounted or specialized services for members. The hospitality and travel industry is currently the second largest industry in Vermont and is projected to surpass manufacturing as our largest employer by the end of this decade. It is currently the largest source of new jobs in our entire economy. The lodging and food service field encompasses many facets, with the sizes of operations ranging from a handful of employees to hundreds. Within the field, there is a large variety of career specialties available. Activities Offered: Career Guest Speakers Topics include job descriptions, career paths, expected compensation, growth opportunities, benefits and requirements of a career in the hospitality industry, and more.
