88 Ethan Allen Avenue Vermont Public Television is the public television service for Vermont and bordering areas of New York, New Hampshire and southern Quebec. Vermont Public Television strives to be the states leading source of cultural and educational enrichment, building a lasting alliance with all Vermont residents by providing vital, diversified local and national programming and services, lifelong learning initiatives and community outreach efforts. Vermont Public Television, which went on air October 16, 1967, plays a vital role in the education and development of children with non-violent, non-commercial programs like Sesame Street, Barney, Arthur, and Wishbone. The station also offers instructional programming for classroom use. Vermont Public Television carries a complete schedule of PBS programming and produces programming of local interest, including its weekly series, Vermont This Week, Points North, and The Talk of Vermont with Jeff Kaufman, as well as specials like Vermont Memories, Call the Governor, Northern Railroads, and election debates. Thanks to grants from the USDAs Rural Development Service, VPT has produced the series, Venturing, The Farming Project, In the Public Interest, and RFD. Activities Offered: Career Guest Speakers Topics include broadcasting, media and technology. Technical and non-technical people are available to discuss all aspects of television and related fields.
