The American Red Cross, a corporation established and recognized by an act of Congress, is today one of the nation’s largest voluntary health and human services institutions.

The mission of the American Red Cross is:

To improve the quality of human life,

To enhance self-reliance and concern for others, and

to help people avoid, prepare for, and cope with
emergencies.

The New England Region is fully committed to providing sufficient quantities of high quality blood products and services to those we serve. We collect and process the blood and blood products needed by patients served by the hospitals in this region. Over 970 people work for the region, in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. Of this number, 90% are employed in a variety of professional, technical, and administrative occupations.

Activities Offered:

• Applied Academics – The American Red Cross has a self-contained kit called “Buddy Blood Drop,” suitable for use by grade school teachers to cover the circulatory system.

• Career Guest Speakers

• Educational Visit/Tour – Tours are available for students, teachers, parents, guidance counselors and school administrators on a limited basis.

• Mentoring – Mentoring is available for middle and high school students who are at risk of dropping out or who have career questions that seem especially difficult.
