Fletcher Allen Health Care is a 615-bed acute care teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Vermont’s College of Medicine and its schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. It is a premier academic medical center, one of 125 in the country. The hospital also offers clinical training for Champlain and Trinity College undergraduates enrolled in health-related programs.

In addition to its educational mission, Fletcher Allen is a community hospital for the more than 117,000 residents of the greater Burlington area and is a tertiary care referral center for physicians throughout Vermont, northern New England and upstate New York.

Over 4,300 people work in the medical center in a variety of professional, technical and service occupations. Of these employees, 78% are women and nearly 62% hold positions requiring post-secondary education leading to certification or licensure. In its current workforce, 17% hold a high school diploma and 81% have some level of post-secondary education.
